Dr. Henry Hildebrand Chair of Biblical Studies Selected
Briercrest is pleased to announce that Dr. Wes Olmstead has been selected as the Dr. Henry Hildebrand Chair of Biblical Studies. The purpose of this new position is to assert the centrality of biblical teaching at Briercrest and honour the legacy of Dr. Hildebrand, whose passion was to honour and share God’s Word with students and constituents.
Dr. Hildebrand was the founding principal when Briercrest Bible Institute opened in 1935 and served for 42 years in a number of capacities including President and Chancellor Emeritus until he passed away in 2006.
Dr. Olmstead demonstrates biblical leadership, servanthood, and a clear commitment to teaching the Word of God. As he begins this new role, Dr. Olmstead will continue teaching biblical studies courses at Briercrest, as well as promote the memory of Dr. Hildebrand through preaching, researching, and writing with the same passion evidenced in Dr. Hildebrand’s ministry and life.
The goal of this project is to create awareness of the need for solid biblical education and raise funds which will pay the salary, expenses, and professional development of a select Bible professor from among our faculty. Briercrest has been committed to providing biblically-based education for over 80 years, and we continue to seek ways we can prepare our students to equip the Church and engage our world.
