Men fall to Kodiaks

The men and the Lethbridge Kodiaks played each other in a hard-played game, Briercrest falling to the Kodiaks in four sets.

Off the start of the first set, both teams came out with big tempo, but Briercrest caught on fire and went off on an 11-3 run later into the set. Briercrest ate up the set 25-11, a huge contributor to this set was #9 Emmitt Juul-Hansen who had 3 digs, 8 assists and a block.

Starting the second set, Briercrest were seeking to hold their momentum, but the Kodiaks held up, and eventually pulled ahead. The Kodiaks went on to win the set 19-25, dominating near the end. Onto the third set, the Kodiaks controlled the start, pulling ahead 10-18. Briercrest attempted to catch up but could not resulting in the Kodiaks winning the set 16-25.

In what would be the final set, the two teams battled for the set which could have either closed the match or keep it alive. In a mid-timeout during the set, the score was 13-15 which stayed about the same throughout the set with the Kodiaks winning 21-25. The final scores were 25-11 / 19-25 / 16-25 / 21-25.

Players of the game was #9 Emmitt Juul-Hansen for the Clippers with 25 assists and 6 digs who expressed “I thought we came out strong, we played well in the first set. But took our foot off the gas in the rest of the sets, Lethbridge also came out swinging in those sets so credit to them, but we are going to come out swinging tomorrow.”
