Saturday's game of the Portage Voyeugers vs the Briercrest Clippers weekend series was full of thrilling saves, hard hits and a nail biting finish.

The game started out slow with neither team gaining an advantage. Portage eventually found the back of the net during a 2-man advantage at the end of the period.  Shots on net were 13-4 for the visitors.

The second period was quiet with just one penalty handed out to the Clippers. The home team finally scored midway through the period tying up the game.

Both teams came out with increased pressure for the 3rd period. A string of penalties for the Clippers put them on the defensive and during that time, Portage was able to capitalize to go up 2-1. The Clippers were not prepared to give up and on the one power player they had, tied the game again.  Neither team was about to back down and intensity picked up after Portage scored another power play goal.  With little time left, Briercrest called a time out and on a frantic scramble in front of the net, Assistant Captain Cale Kindrachuk buried the tying goal to send the game into overtime.

4 on 4 overtime was the perfect setting for Trey Doell to showcase his offensive skills by scoring the winning goal with just 49 seconds left in the 5 minute overtime period.

Shots at the end of the game were 34 each side proving this was a very evenly matched game.  Player of the game for Portage was #21 with a goal and an assist and Cale Kindrachuk with the tying goal and an assist for the Clippers.

Reagan Poncelet, 1st year forward was pleased with the win saying, "it was a great game. We were down a few players due to injury but capitalized when it mattered and pulled out a 4 point weekend."

The Clippers will be on the road next weekend to face MacEwan University.
