Interim Internship Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The Interim Internship Coordinator role is an on-campus or remote position and will be responsible for the coordination of internships in the Seminary Counselling programs. This position will have some flexibility in working hours.

Note: This is a 16 hour/week, 10-month term position (Aug 2023-Jun 2024)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Agreement to live within the Briercrest Institutional Covenant and align with the mission, vision, and values of Briercrest College and Seminary
  • A minimum of a master’s degree in counselling
  • Membership in a professional association (CAMFT/RMFT preferred)
  • Five years experience as a therapist (preferred)
  • Supervisor training and status (preferred)
  • High level of professionalism and ethical behaviour
  • A self-starter with strong organizational and administrative abilities
  • Proficient in networking and developing partnerships

DESIRED OUTCOMES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Coordinate Placement Opportunities
    • Work with students to find appropriate placements
    • Support students in finding external clinical supervisors
    • Support MFT students in getting supervisors approved through CAMFT as approved alternates when needed
    • Network to develop placement partnerships
  • Supporting Interns
    • Providing opportunities to meet with students who need support
    • Support both interns and placements when difficulties arise
    • Supporting interns who need extensions (frequently students need more than 1 year and require a 6-month extension granted by this role)
    • Serve as a liaison between counseling students and placements
  • Administrative Support
    • Approve internship documents
    • Communicate with Academic Services for registration, extensions, final grade, and setting up insurance for students
    • Tracking hours for and supporting upcoming graduating interns to ensure that they are on track to graduate
  • Marking
    • Mark monthly reports ensuring that students are staying within the 1:5 supervision ratio and supporting students with any questions or concerns noted in their reports
    • Mark mid and final evaluations and all papers. Respond to any concerns from the supervisor or student as indicated in the report
  • Clinical Supervision: Provide group supervision for students needing additional supervision support
  • Department Responsibilities
    • Attend regular department meetings
    • Communicatee with Program Coordinators to discuss any concerns as well as to ensure that program coordinators approve of students starting internship

TEAM RELATIONSHIPS

  • This position reports to the Seminary Program Coordinator
